Music Careers Expo is a FREE hands‑on Careers Expo for secondary students passionate about music, on stage or behind the scenes.
Attendees can learn about different roles in the music industry, join interactive workshops, experience a live soundcheck, meet artists and industry professionals, explore training pathways, book 1:1 mentoring sessions, and enjoy performances from local acts.
Music Careers Expo is for secondary school-aged students who are curious about a career in the music industry, whether it be on stage or behind the scenes. You don't have to currently be involved in music to attend – we encourage anyone who is curious to join us! Parents and teachers are also welcome to attend.
We encourage students to attend through their schools, but students in Years 9-13 may attend independently as long as they have parent or guardian consent. Younger students must be accompanied by an adult.
Music Careers Expo will run from start to end, so attendees will need to bring a packed lunch and water bottle. There will be an allocated area to drop your bags off.
You'll be able to find a full schedule of the day here closer to the event – keep an eye out on our website!
Music Careers Expo is co-hosted by New Zealand Music Commission and Big Fan. The day will be attended by other music industry organisations and tertiary institutions.
